I didn’t watch allllllll of the Academy Awards because the forced humor and dialog was boring but I am excited to no end that Sandra Bullock won! I watched The Blind Side and I enjoyed the hell out of her performance.
Yeah Yeah…..I know I’ve been absent. AGAIN…life is going on man. I have a new site that I’m working on and I’m really excited about it. But it’s taking a lot of my time to get it ready. And like I said….LIFE tends to dictate the amount of time we have to sit down and blog. At this moment I’m preparing for an interview and watching Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior on the Disney Channel. Love this movie!
Don’t give up on me……keep coming back and I will too. LOL
I’m looking to identify the 3 best posts that I have ever written……from a journalistic approach. These are the top 10 in MY opinion and for the next 7 days I’ll be taking a vote. Leave a comment with your vote for the best post I’ve ever written.
Let me begin this post by saying that I have never had a problem with eating at Hooters restaurant. I definitely see the appeal of a sports bar with wings, beer, sports, and pretty women. I’m of the school that if you’re not comfortable wearing the uniform….you wouldn’t work there and the same goes for eating there. Now I’ve never been too impressed with the food so it’s not on my top 10 lists of places for the best wings in the world.
I was curious about the show Undercover Boss after watching a few of the CEO’s appear on Oprah several weeks ago and so we watched the first episode after the Superbowl. Everyone who started watching the show saw the clip of the Hooters, with CEO Coby Brooks, episode and chomped at the bit to see the manager who forced his waitresses to “play his reindeer games” be fired. Because OF COURSE that would be the logical action after seeing a man make scantily clad women eat a plate of beans with no hands.
What was more disturbing to me was Coby Brooks’ actions towards the manager. He placed a phone call to the franchise owner, alerted his executive board (who decided that the manager’s career could be salvaged by retraining him), and he instructed the manager to issue a formal apology to his staff once he revealed himself.
A FORMAL APOLOGY!
What that says to me is that Hooters does not value the women who represent their brand…..the women who are on the front line receiving the brunt of most of the disgust at the uniform and name, the women who are already subjected to belittling by customers. They don’t even get respect from the boss who is supposed to be there to support them. You see, Mr. Coby Brooks, Hooters CEO and President, you said that you wanted to see why the business had gone down since your father passed away. And you played it up for the cameras when employees told you that there was a disconnect from the family when you took over. Those tears shed for the camera DID NOTHING FOR YOUR REPUTATION when it was followed by a one liner that tells us that JIMBO of the South Arlington store has apologized and changed his management style. In doing my research today I read plenty of comments that say the entire episode was scripted by the producers. Ask me if I care…..go ahead.
What I do care about is the IMAGE OF IMPROPRIETY! Mr. Coby Brooks got plenty of free advertising for Hooters. Funny thing…..my husband always reminds me that you get what you pay for.
Oh….and before anyone tells me that Mr. Coby Brooks can’t fire Jimbo because he works for the franchise owner…..I suggest Hooters be more invested in who they allow to represent their brand.
So at this point we know that Hooters is up for sale. I’m willing to bet that poor management had something to do with that decision. In the meantime, since Mr. Coby Brooks (and yes I intended to say his name that many times) decided not to publicly stand up for his Hooter girls….I will.
I can PROMISE YOU that I will never spend another dollar at Hooters of America Inc. located at 1815 The Exchange in Atlanta, Georgia, zip code 30339, phone number 770-951-2040.

The Olympics are on all day long and I love it!
The United States leads in total medal counts with two golds for Mens Snowboard Cross and Freestyle Skiing Ladies Mogul. I was really rooting for the figure skating pair but oh well.
This is my update for now. Again….I can’t promise much more. I didn’t even get to the Iron Chef post I promised 5 days ago.
