Any type of royalty you see will most likely have a plan for their kingdom and their future as the leader of said kingdom. They mentally decided what they want and make it happen. A princess has to do the same thing. But this lesson isn’t about having a plan. This lesson is about working that plan the right way.
Part of being a princess is knowing when to take the diamond tiara off and be a shark. We as women (along with the entire media) recognize that we are underrated, professionally ignored, and often seen as inferior compared to our male counterparts. It is OUR job to teach our daughters how to be a shark when required to advance your position in the throne.
If there is an opportunity to advance in school don’t be afraid to take it. Don’t be afraid to how your professor just how intelligent and savvy you are. Being a shark is all about being savvy with it. When you see that open door at work, figure out how to work it to your advantage. SAVVY. Women do not live in a society where fruitful handouts are given on a fair basis or just because you deserve them. We have to teach our daughters how to recognize opportunity and to take what is due to them.
I think alot of women think of being a princess (or consider themselves a princess) and emulate a docile creature who is pampered and put on a pedestal as “pretty” like a china doll. A true princess is one who looks pretty on a pedestal and has the wherewithal to go out and snatch herself an even bigger and better pedestal.
In the corporate world that translates into developing a position for yourself where you can be poised to take aim and strike whatever opposition is in your way on your path to that bigger and better pedestal. A TRUE PRINCESS has to know how and when to be a shark.

Earlier today TJ posted about the kind of princess she wanted her daughter to be. That started a conversation between us about princesses. As a reigning princess I had to let her know that everybody walking around in a tiara ain’t royalty! The two of us talked about what being a princess means to us. I am a princess. I was raised with a royal attitude and way of life…..regardless of income or status. I have a princess way of life and outlook. TJ suggested that I share some lessons in how to be a princess with the world. These are not lessons on how to look down your nose on anyone or how to name drop. (By the way….I really do abhor brand name dropping. Don’t do it here.)
