Be back later with a more substantiative post….

And Cousin Paul’s Gumbo (that’s who I got the recipe from….)
My brother in law has a big screen television in his basement with some cushy man type furniture. You know….a man cave.
I made plans for me and the Mr. to go to Tulsa this weekend and hang out with the family.
See why I feel kinda bad now?
Yesterday my other half told me about Presidential Candidate John Edwards staying up for 36 hours straight and personally making phone calls in an attempt to rally supporters for the Iowa Caucus. My first thought is “he’s going to bump Hilary down to 3rd……that was an impressive strategy.” So this morning I logged onto my news sites FIRST THING to see what was being said about the Iowa Caucus and came across THIS article. Everyone already knows how extremely impressed I am with John Edwards and although NO candidate campaigns to be second…..I still believe that the most successful ticket would be one of Edwards and Obama. That would be a stellar combination. The true debate will begin after the final numbers tonight though.
A lot of people are not familiar with what exactly a caucus is or how it works. HERE is a great article that details the process. There are two things I’m specifically interested in. 1) We can pretty much guarantee that Dennis Kucinich won’t get the 15% he needs to stay in the running in Iowa. Will his supporters REALLY switch their support To Sen. Obama at that moment? 2) I suspect that Sen. Clinton won’t get the last minute surge of support that she’s expecting. Will she still be in 3rd at the end of the night?
On the Republican side of the table, I would have never expected Rudy Guiliani to fall off the radar the way he did. So now we are watching a two way race between Huckabee and Romney with Thompson in 3rd. It’s my belief that instead of being one of the top tier, Fred is simply leading the pack of “others” at the bottom of the numbers pool. So do you think we’re going to see a final Huckabee/Romney ticket when the dust clears? Interesting. I need to do some more research on Huckabee. I never truly considered him a serious contender before now.
In other news, another prisoner in Dallas was cleared based on DNA evidence (via testing that wasn’t available when he was convicted 26 years ago.) Texas leads the country in prisoners freed by DNA testing. It concerns me that I know Texas is also a leader when it comes to the execution of prisoners as well. Every time I hear or read about a story such as this I question my position on the death penalty. I have never had a clear stand on it and I’m not sure I ever will knowing that there are more men and women, sisters and brothers, locked up in the system unjustly and unfairly.
And last but not least……..The Tuna. He speaks for himself. I will be interested to see who is chosen to fill the vacated positions. In the meantime…….GO COWBOYS!
