Love the Way You Love Me ~ Geral Levert: SKIP

Out Tonight ~ Rent Soundtrack: Talk about being free. I was telling TJ and Melette that after visiting the America I Am Exhibit in Atlanta, the biggest thing I walked away with is that I deserve to be free. No matter whether I’m broke, homeless, hungry, or lost……never be trapped. Be free! The version from the motion picture (sung by Rosario Dawson) is more raw than the stage play soundtrack.

So let’s find a bar

So dark we forget who we are

Where are the scars from the nevers and maybes

Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…….

Wanna wail at the moon like a cat in heat

Just take me out tonight

Out and Over ~ Dorinda Clark Cole: I thought I was with Carla when I got this cd…..I actually remember the Live from Houston CD and listening to it in a gospel store in Houston one weekend WITH CARLA. But thinking back, I bought another one and I got this from my sister. The memory is a big deal because at the time I was struggling through something and my sister said she had the perfect thing to get me through (first lady that she is). Mind over matter is the key……Faith is mind over matter. Faith and belief…….I laid down in the dark this morning and said “If you decide that this is what you want then that means you have to accept it for what it is and be content with it.” LETITGO…..hmmmm

I’m out of this…..and over that.

Stars ~ Kindred the Family Soul: Love……

We’ve come

So far

The stars look up at you baby

My heart

Belongs

Right here next to you baby

No Pain, No Gain ~ Betty Wright: I’ve told y’all before about not understanding a song til you UNDERSTAND the damn song. whew When my daughters (if I have any) come to me about love I’m not going to do like my elders did and talk all that flowery froo froo shit. I’mma tell em about the tears, the yelling, the packed bags and plans to leave, the sleepless nights and the disappointments too. No pain…..no gain.

You can’t give up cause times get hard

Nobody ever tells you that until it’s too late….except for Betty Wright. If you don’t listen to Betty’s music, you should start today!

Everything I Do ~ Bryan Adams: Let the music speak for itself.

Be Without You ~ Mary J. Blige: This is a ride or die song for couples. Think it ain’t?

People swore it off as a phase
Said we can’t see that
Now from top to bottom
They see that we did that (yes)
It’s so true that (yes)
We’ve been through it (yes)
We got real sh** (yes)
See baby we been…

Too strong for too long (and I can’t be without you baby)
And I’ll be waiting up until you get home (cuz I can’t sleep without you baby)
Anybody who’s ever loved, ya know just what I feel
Too hard to fake it, nothing can replace it
Call the radio if you just can’t be without your baby

See this is real talk
I’m always stay (no matter what)
Good or bad (thick and thin)
Right or wrong (all day everyday)
Now if you’re down on love or don’t believe
This ain’t for you (no, this ain’t for you)
And if you got it deep in your heart
And deep down you know that it’s true (come on, come on, come on)
Well, let me see you put your hands up (hands up)
Fellas tell your lady she’s the one (fellas tell your lady she’s the one, oh)
Put your hands up (hands up)
Ladies let him know he’s got your love
Look him right in his eyes and tell him

I’mma be honest…..everybody ain’t cut out for that shit! Take my word for it. Staying is hard as hell to do……Leaving doesn’t feel any better. Standing at the open door with your suitcases in hand and a list of flights going to your mother’s house…..there is no easy decision.

Picture this

I’m in my bed

Body’s hot

Soaking wet

Thinking bout the things I’d like to do

I’m open wide when it comes to freakin you

Some songs just don’t require an introduction. Every time I hear this I wanna go jump on him……except he doesn’t like to be jumped on. Oh well…..like I keep saying, this shit ain’t for amateurs.

Hate Me Now ~ Nas:  Everybody needs a damn good get violent song.

When I get my new laptop I’ll do more audio posts and such….have some fun. Until then, let’s put this here iPhone on shuffle and see what she spits out.

Question…..when is the last time you saw somebody YOUNG on this show?  I’m just saying…..

I had to actually type this out and break it down cause it’s bothering the shit outta me.

Brad married Tracy and had a daughter, Colleen.  Then he married Nikki and they almost had a baby but she fell off a horse and had a miscarriage.  Or was that when she was married to Jack?  Anyway…..back to Brad.  Brad later married Ashley, Tracy’s sister and his daughter Colleen’s aunt.  He and Ashley had a daughter but come to find out that the baby wasn’t his.  No No No.  You see Ashley wanted Victor’s ass so bad she STOLE HIS SPERM and impregnated herself.  Now if that ain’t some hoodrat shit I don’t know what is.  Now Victor is Nikki’s husband/ex-husband/baby daddy.  Yep.  Brad’s wife had a baby by his ex-wife’s husband.  You still with me?  I hope so….you see cause Brad had an affair with Sharon.  Sharon is Nick’s wife.  Nick is Victor and Nikki’s son.  Brad….Nikki’s ex-husband, had an affair with Nikki’s daughter in law.  The woman who was married to his ex stepson.  After he and Ashley split he got remarried.  This time to Victoria, Victor and Nikki’s daughter.  So now Brad has had sex with two sisters, his ex stepdaugther, and his ex stepson’s wife (respectively his ex-wife’s daughter and daughter in law).  By this point Brad’s daughter, Colleen is a young college student who comes to live with him.  She begins a relationship with JT.  The problem is that she and JT begin having problems and we all know what couples do when they have problems right?  Of course we do….they go have random ass sex.  Who did JT have sex with?  Why Victoria of course.  Yep.  Colleen’s newest stepmother had sex with her boyfriend.  Hell…..JT and Victoria even have a baby boy now.  Welcome to the family son.  Did you catch anything in that?  You didn’t.  Answer this…if Ashley’s baby girl is by Victor…..Victoria’s dad…..then Victoria was her own sister’s stepmother at one point.

Now let’s get back to Nick and Sharon.  You see, after Sharon’s slutty ass slept with Brad, she and Nick divorced and he married the old whore he had been having an affair with…..Phyllis.  Phyllis used to be married to Jack….Nikki’s ex-husband.  Yes the same Nikki that is Nick’s mother.  So now Nick is married to his ex-stepfather’s wife.  But it’s okay.  They just played the old switcharoo……Jack married skank ass Sharon when she decided she would stop sleeping with Brad behind her sister in law’s back.  You ain’t catch that the first time did you?

I just have one more question…..would it kill CBS to hire some new actors?  The only person left for Brad to sleep with is Lily and Neil MIGHT kill him for that.

Is just that….a helluva experience. If she is performing anywhere near you I highly recommend that you go see her. You won’t regret it. The first thing I HAVE to point out is that the only speck of color in the theater besides me, were the people on the stage. I was amazed at that fact! I left home early because I KNEW I would either get lost or have trouble finding parking…..I did both. But what I didn’t expect was to be the only Black person there. Come on…QUEEN LATIFAH comes to Small Town, Oregon and my people aren’t there…..damn.

But I did come to realize that Small Town, Oregonians are SERIOUS about getting their party on. There was lots of shouting and dancing. There was singing along and clapping. They were cheers and basically a lot of partying going on. It was great.

First off, she looked fabulously casual. Slacks and a jazzy as hell top…and her hair!!!! I WANT THAT HAIR CUT! I loved her look. She performed a few songs from her first jazz cd and several from her newest cd, including the title track Trav’lin Light. There was jazz, there was blues, there was funk, there was soul, there was Brazilian rhythms……it was a plethora of musically infused fun. She started the night off with I’m Gonna Live Til I Die and I loved it. She followed up with Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars, Trav’lin Light, Georgia Rose, and Poetry Man (just to name a few). The audience ate up every bit of interaction she gave off…..she even brought her father on stage to show him off. Like I said….it was one big party. Her band and background singers are all AWESOME!

Then she sang MY SONG! I Know Where I’ve Been. When I tell y’all that I was in the back of the theater on my feet almost crying…..whew. It took all I had not to throw my hand in the air and holler SANG IT SISTA!!!!!!!! But I maintained my composure because remember…..I WAS THE ONLY BLACK PERSON THERE! The funny part was that she looked dead in my direction and said “I see ya sista!” I had to wipe a tear away. You know how much that song means to me right? Just wow!

And as the night ended, the crowd demanded she come back on stage one more time. When I say demanded….let me set the scene for you….THE BAND WAS GONE AND THE LIGHTS WERE ON! They wouldn’t sit down. We clapped and cheered and yelled for more. And when she came out what did the crowd ask for? The all white, Small Town crowd???? A RAP!

Looking around for hidden cameras or Ashton Kutcher cause somebody is play playin with me.

No sireebob….no jokes. The Queen breaks out with her legendary hit UNITY and the crowd is going wild (including me). We’re all up on our feet dancing and singing along like it’s an old school hip hop party out on the street.

Go get Trav’lin Light!

Go see Queen Latifah if she comes to your area!

Wear your dancing shoes because the drums and the bass throw down!

And don’t sleep on the white folks in Small Town, Oregon…..cause they gets down!

The season premier of Lincoln Heights is Tuesday!  TUNE IN!!!!!!  I can’t wait to see what happens this season.

This morning I realized that I won’t be making this drive to work much longer.  I’m starting to begin thinking about what all I’ll miss when I move to Small Town, Oregon.  The people I care about the most are really excited for me.  That helps make me excited.  That and all of the good things I’ve been finding in my small town.  For example, we get the Style Network.  I LOVE the Style Network.  Especially that show with Niecy Nash.  There’s also the Farmer’s Market.  Ours is so pathetic that it’s held in the parking lot of a deli.  Small Town, Oregon has a huge one.  And I’m only a few hours from Portland.  Now while most folks may frown upon driving a few hours; realize that I used to drive 4 hours EACH WAY to Dallas in one day just to go shopping.  Hell I drove 8 hours to Houston to see a man once.  So you KNOW I’ll drive to Portland with a cooler and some ice to experience that big ass farmer’s market.  I’m really excited about that.  Then there’s the hiking, white water rafting, and skiing.  Yeah…I’m excited.  AND THERE’S AN EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT AT THE GYM!  So I can get back on track.  Wanna know another perk?  I’m not even the least little bit scared of learning my way around. LOL  Come on….it’s Small Town, Oregon.  One road goes through the whole town and it sits right off of I-5.  That’s an open door for all kinds of exploration.

I just realized that I might need to pack my “special box” in my suitcase and take it with me.

I’ve been researching birth control pills lately.  The amazing thing though is that no one I’ve asked so far has ever taken them.  I really thought more people had.  Someone posed the question to me the other day asking what I planned to do when I got married.  So I decided to look into the options.  Let me tell y’all something…..the pill doesn’t sound too damn appealing to me.  Some people have doubts about not having a cycle every month but I’ve actually read medical research that says not having a cycle every month decreases a woman’s chances of cancer in the lining of her uterus or ovaries.  The problem you ask?  THE RISKS!

  • bleeding between periods
  • breast tenderness
  • headache
  • nausea
  • change in sexual desire
  • depression

The most serious complication of combination pill use is having a blood clot in the legs, lungs, heart, or brain. Women on the combination pill who have major surgery or who have a leg immobilized — because they are confined to bed or have a cast — seem to have a greater chance of having blood clots. Rarely, women who take the combination pill develop high blood pressure. Very rarely, they develop liver tumors, gallstones, or jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).

Here’s an article to check out.

So without pills what are your options?  Cause y’all know I am NOT down for a change in desire.  Not even a little bit.

So that’s a little bit of what’s on my mind today.  Moving, television, and birth control pills.

Have a great weekend!
