Diva: You hear about a coalition of Hispanics telling Herman Cain he shouldn’t run for president because he said we should build a wall…..with electric shock (in so many words) and that we’ll lose less people than the Chinese lost building the great wall but it’ll be worth it (in so many words)?

Diva: They have power! Where is our power? Where is our coalition putting the heat on ole Herman?
TJ: You know, I was reading about the great migration and it appears that a lot of African Americans have adopted the mindset of the older generations who were in the north and west, which was complete ignorance of the big picture.
Diva: Damn…we can’t do that though. Unemployment is high and the black middle class is getting picked off by the GOP
TJ: Just that they had “arrived” and so the people who were still struggling were on their own.
Diva: We can’t afford to be ignorant.
TJ: The middle class is being picked off by the gop…PERIOD

Diva: okay…..the middle class in general is getting picked off. The point is that WE can’t afford the I’ve arrived mentality cause if we had arrived then we wouldn’t be getting picked off. The same “I’ve arrived” folks were at the unemployment office and at the=e bank with foreclosure papers.
TJ: That’s true. The same Ive arrived folks in chicago and east saint louis fell to the riots
Diva: So where is our coalition of leaders telling Herman Cain to step it up or get the hell on?
TJ: That’s a good question. Maybe they are watching baskeball wives

Diva: If black folks aren’t worried about the upcoming presidential election right now…..what are we worried about?
TJ: People like to say that boycotts are counter productive but black people have more purchasing power than ever and if they tracked campaign contributions and quit spending folk would be hurt and thinking
Diva: Girl we didn’t even stop buying Tommy Hilfiger when he said he didn’t make clothes to fit black people.

Diva: We are damn sure not about to track political contributions
TJ: And we REALLY should have stopped shopping at WalMart when the SISTA started the class action that went to the supreme court as a matta fact based on the outcome we REALLY should not be shopping there. I know every time I see a poll about Walmart or one of their stores, I SHO say, you know I cant shop there cause of how they treat their employees.
Diva: so we in general are not conscious of our dollar.
TJ: HECK NO
Diva: But I’m serious….if we’re not concerned about politics, what are we concerned with?
TJ: Look at how many musicians can peddle OVERPRICED liquor to us cause its a LIFESTYLE brand…how many folk can make us buy clothes not designed for our bodies. Look at how long some of us bought ASHY blue eyeshadow and that might have looked good on YOU, my mama, and her sisters but it was TOO MANY chicks my color and beyond wearing colors that aint look good on us cause we saw it in an ad and hoped

TJ: LOLOLOL I’m just sayin
Diva: Do you think ole Herman will see the potential power from that coalition and make nice?
TJ: I dont know. He’s running as a tea party candidate and they tend to be anti immigration.
Diva: Right. Oh he clearly expressed the opinions of his party…no doubt about it
TJ: He has no debt so that might work for him too
Diva: President Obama has already raised more campaign funds than all the gop candidates combined
TJ: Although if he doesnt get a new head staff person he’s in trouble…Herman Cain that is
Diva: Why?
TJ: Cause its startin to look a little disorganized what with top people in New Hampshire and Iowa skipping out. Why they skipping out? Do they know something that his supporters dont?
Diva: Speaking of skipping out, Essence magazine hired a white man as the new managing editor. Does that bother you?
TJ: No cause I wrote off Essence a LONG time ago. Black people in the magazine business with solid reputations wouldn’t work there and that says a LOT
Diva: Did you hear about Michelle Bachman agreeing with with a statement about black children being better off during slavery because they had two parent homes?
TJ: She has made so many ignorant statements. First she said that the founding fathers were against slavery which is an outright lie. Only one of them were much later in life. John Quincy Adams, I believe. Her statement about African American families is stupid and untrue. Children in the south who emigrated to the north and west were more educated than the whites in the north and west and had more stable families and they were free.
Diva: One of the callers to the Joe Madison show said that he’s willing to bet money that in another week we’ll see her on a black radio show apologizing and then in a black church and all will be forgiven
TJ: I don’t think so. I do not respect her as a politician because she makes ignorant statements all of the time and its one thing to be like Karl Rove and Roger Ailes and be manipulative and racist but to be so misguided and ignorant is unacceptable…even more than Karl Rove and Roger Ailes because they did it to make money. At least they cracked open a book from time to time.
Diva: see….it’s hard for me to fall for the ignorance because this chick has her JD!

TJ: Remember the blogger lawyer lady who we both know that has made ignorant statements about interracial dating and children? Some of the dumbest statements to make the net.
Diva: BUT she has never made an ignorant statement about a historical fact. That’s different. Her ignorace is on a social level not educational.
TJ: No. Ignorant is ignorant.
Diva: Herman Cain and Michelle Bachman and Mitch McConnell saying his job is to make sure Obama is a one term president. He wouldn’t get re-elected if I lived in his state. We voted you in to do a job. A job that benefits the constituents, bullshitting is not what we voted you in for.
TJ: I think its disgusting that the GOP is willing to risk the credit rating of the United States to uphold tax breaks for folks who dont need em.
Diva: GIRL…I read about about that. This blogger owns a restoration company.
TJ: What do they restore?
Diva: and she was saying that they have a couple client….young couple…homes….rich, white, young couple and that by getting tax breaks they are able to afford restoration and all the jobs that come from it. I was a little disgusted
TJ: See this is why I can’t read her blog. If it wasn’t for the fact that I know that the people who they are cutting employ more people than her restoration business maybe I could read her blog with a straight face. If the United States’ credit rating goes down then all of those restoration people better know how to talk Chinese cause their money wont be worth a crap.
Diva: I know that there are people like her but I never thought I’d know one. What you think about the DSK case?
TJ: Well, it’s a mess cause even with all the shade that the victim is involved in there is still cause to believe that she could have been assaulted.
Diva: Did you hear about the other “victim” who has stepped up?
TJ: no. I missed that
Diva: Another young woman….this one in Britain I think…..said that he raped her too
TJ: People in Europe are surprised that he’s being treated like any other suspect. People in America should be too. And speaking of crap cases, Oregon has a casey law on the books now giving parents 24 hours to report they kids missing or dead. How sad is the state of the world when you have to do that?
Diva: it’s been a sad state of the world for a long time now
TJ: I know but thats a mess
Diva: you know a lot of people have said she only got off because she’s white and attractive.
TJ: I can’t imagine a black woman getting charged with just lying to the police in the face of all of that evidence and a refusal to testify on her own behalf. Ten again would anybody even be charged in the death of a black child like this?
Diva: I can honestly say that I didn’t keep up with the entire case
TJ: Would we know she was missing? Would we know when she got found if she was black?
Diva: Did you ever watch that show on tv where the FBI looks for missing people? I can’t think of the name of it….but I think it was on cbs. There was an episode where two kids were missing….one white and one black.
TJ: Without a Trace
Diva: and the white girl was all over the news
TJ: ?
Diva: YEAH that’s it…and nobody even knew the little black boy was missing. The mama was PISSED! The black woman on the team lit her boss up for not being more vocal about the black kid. In the end they found one alive and one dead but they never said which was which
