The Best of My Life

Note: This post was written on December 18, 2010 at 5:45pm…5 days before my birthday.

I did some things right in life.  I truly did.  When I was a little girl I wanted to be either a lawyer or an accountant.  Before 2008 I had a gooooooooooood career in finance.  I checked “corner office shot caller” off my bucket list in 2007/2008.  I did that.  And I was damn good at it.  I’m proud of that.

When I moved to Oregon I decided that I would give it 3 years and then I’d move on.  I lived in Chicago for 3 years and last Monday when I went to Iron Cupcake I felt like I had finally conquered the city.  I felt content.  I did it y’all……I moved to the big city and I made it.  I learned how to get around on the trains and the buses and the highways.  I learned how to get involved in activities that I was interested in and I tried new things.  Hell I even met Louie Anderson.  I did that.

HEY!  I was a competitor in Iron Cupcake Chicago!  I was a finalist for Event Solutions Spotlight Awards in 2006 too.  I’ve been in magazines for my creative craft!

I’ve road tripped across the country TWICE.  I found a quarter in my pocket today and looked on the back to see where it was from.  I laughed when I saw it was from Utah.  When we drove from Oregon to Chicago we stopped to spend the night in Sacramento because the snow was literally blinding.  The next day we rolled through Utah and when we stopped for gas we found out that Lake Tahoe had been snowed in the days before and the road was finally clear for people to leave.  It was beautiful.  I’ve driven across the Hoover Bridge….I DID THAT.  The New Mexico desert is beautiful at night.  The moon alone can light the entire road.

This might sound pathetic to all my feminist type readers but do you want to know the best moment of my life?  Falling in love.  I used to think that I was in love but when I met my husband I knew the difference.  The best thing I’ve ever experienced in life was falling in love.  For so many years I was lonely on days like New Year’s Eve and I would wish for summer walks in the park with someone special.  In 2007….hell…..in terms of love, 2007 was my best year.

When it comes to things that were important to me…..I’ve had some best moments in my life.

34 years ago today, 2 people gave birth to a little girl who always smiled and only wanted love and to be happy.

I hope I’m always remembered for my best moments.
