Having my own hosted blog is still kind of new to me. Buttons are in different places over here. And if you haven’t been to the SWS blog yet…you’re missing out.  You should also check out the show.  Last week TJ got kinda wild with her glass of wine over there.  She asked me today when I was going to update my blog and my reply was that I didn’t have anything to say.  I still don’t but I could share the random bursts in my brain to you.

I can’t find the software that came with this camera we have….so I can’t upload the videos we’ve taken.  I’ve taken the SD card out and loaded it straight to my laptop but all I get is pictures and sound…no video.  And we bought this thing in Atlanta….so that’s two states worth of repacking that I’ve done in the meantime.  I know it’s SOMEWHERE.  I’m going to take everything out and start over completely so that I can find it and get more organized.

I’m ecstatic that Euna Lee and Laura Ling are home where they belong.  I believe that a county that insists on flexing its power all over the world should not have a problem kicking a door down when it needs to be kicked down.  I did have a problem with President Clinton going over there initially.  After watching the press conference I understand that the powers that be asked for him and the families asked that he go.  I can deal with it…because they’re home.  But my initialy thought was why not Mrs. Clinton?  You know….SECRETARY OF STATE CLINTON.  Did you see the video of her responding to an ill translated question in Congo?  It hit all the “news” sites this morning.  If you are going to leave a comment, go read the story first.  I’ve reached my tolerance of unresearched arguments and unfounded points of view this week.

The real story in Congo is not poor translation or the Sec’y of State demanding to be respected in her position. No…it’s human rights and government corruption!  Here is a very good article from the Huffington Post.

I’ve also had my fill of people putting President Clinton back on black people’s pedestal for his negotiating the release of the 2 reporters from North Korea. We sure do have short memories sometimes. Let’s not forget we just had outrage a year ago about his comments and treatment and references to then presidential candidate, Barack Obama.

I’ve had my fill of people forgetting where they come from.  You may have been born privileged or middle class common, but blacks as a people have come from hardship.  Blacks as a people are still undervalued and taken for granted, fiscally, mentally, educationally, etc…  Laugh at Dr. Gates and make all the jokes you want…LAST NIGHT, one of my friends in Irving, Texas was followed home by the police and when he exited his car he was asked for proof that he lived in his gated community.  That one won’t make the news but it damn sure happened.  I went shopping with Alyson last week and while I’m sure she didn’t notice, the only people who actually said EXCUSE ME when attempting to go around us and NOT knock the children down were other black people.  Other people looked at us and immediately determined that we were not worthy or courtesy.  I hear black people argue that it’s not like that where they live or that they never see it.  I’m sure there are lots of things that a blind eye can’t see.  I lived in Oregon and LOVED IT.  I was still approached by a white woman at the gym and asked what my ethnicity was because I looked EXOTIC AND EUROPEAN.   I went to a historical black university in Oklahoma and an older white woman at the ice cream shop still told me that I was a pretty lil colored girl.  Ignore that shit all you want and keep talking about how shit is equal if you want.  Concern yourself with all the issues and ills of all the races……but understand that THEY are not concerning themselves with the issues and ills of our race.  I keep telling y’all my tolerance level is low right now.

I added my first video to the video page today.  Alyson and the DOD celebrated the baby’s 2nd birthday this past weekend and I was in on the fun.  I have my own videos to post but I’ve lost the software that came with the camera and apparently without it I can only get the audio from the videos.  I’m waiting on my husband to either send them directly to my computer or upload them to youtube.

I saw some fall home decor colors today that I fell in love with.  I made a new idea board using some of the products.
