We used to spend our Saturdays on the road. I would get off on Friday and he’d come home for the night and we’d get ready to head out on Saturday mornings with a “short” trip somewhere. It was our “quality time” together on weekends. While we were in the truck we would listen to XM radio. There is a Saturday show on XM/Sirius 169 The Power called “Mind Yo Business“. Taken directly from the host’s (Brian) says the theme of his show is “Helping you to Create your Plan ‘B’ so when you’re ready to travel the world, you can do so with a full bank account!”
Every week they discuss home based business and entrepreneurial ventures that will allow you to be your own boss. The second hour of the show is dedicated to travel…..something you’ll be able to do with the money and TIME you make by your home based business venture. A few weeks ago I was in the car one Saturday morning by myself so I tuned in to hear a new episode. Brian started the show by saying that it was his youngest son’s birthday and to celebrate he had taken him fishing the previous Thursday. He then asked the question….how many listeners out there could simply pick up on a Thursday morning and GO FISHING with their child! *That’s motivation!
Yesterday I was catching up on my back issues of Martha Stewart Living that have been piling up in my bag. For the first time in who knows how long, I noticed that the magazine always starts with Martha’s calendar for the month. As I perused the calendar I saw days filled with items such as “morning workout and walk with dogs” and “plant basil in winter house garden” or “organize canning supplies”. I said to myself “this is Martha’s version of GONE FISHING”.
When I first began working at home on my own business, it didn’t take me long to decide that I needed to write down a schedule and stick to it. I would get so busy with my class that I wouldn’t do any work on my cards or I’d have so much fun with cards that I’d miss having lunch with my neighbor. So I came up with a daily plan each morning and the one thing that never failed was that I would schedule some tv time. TNT shows reruns of Charmed every weekday afternoon in Chicago and that is when I’d take my break.
This isn’t about me today…..I’m just sharing fishing stories.

That’s an awesome goal (traveling the world with a full bank account)!
