Those words are on a billboard off the highway in a neighboring state.  It bothered the shit out of me.  I will admit to being radical when it comes to certain issues (immigration, the penal system, same sex marriage), but at the same time I can’t accept why people who are pro-life are so passionate about the issue that they become ignorant!  Attempting to deny a woman……a stranger that you don’t even know……EVERY WOMAN….the right to choose what she does with her own body is one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard.  Billboards and beliefs like the title are plain ignorant.  Am I saying that being pro-life is ignorant?  Not at all.  You have the right…..but how dare you insinuate that because I am pro-choice that it equates to supporting death.

Clear explanation:  Pro-choice is not supporting abortion.  It is supporting the right to CHOOSE.

Roe v. Wade centrally held that a mother may abort her pregnancy for any reason, up until the “point at which the fetus becomes ‘viable.’” The Court defined viable as being “potentially able to live outside the mother’s womb, albeit with artificial aid. Viability is usually placed at about seven months (28 weeks) but may occur earlier, even at 24 weeks.” The Court also held that abortion after viability must be available when needed to protect a woman’s health, which the Court defined broadly in the companion case of Doe v. Bolton. These rulings affected laws in 46 states.

That definition is what makes it easy for me to accept and tolerate non-ignorant pro-lifers. Viability is different in everyone’s mind and so is the definition of life. That is acceptable. People have the right to their beliefs. People also have the right to have their beliefs respected! Not insulted, not admonished, not stomped on.

I volunteered with a family planning company for several years and one of my early duties was to chase away people harassing the incoming patients. They would attempt to take pictures and write down license plate numbers. In return I would do the same to them and report them to the police. Harassment is illegal. So see….I have long term experience with IGNORANCE.
