My great grandmother smoked. My grandmother used to smoke too. She inherited the habit. She also inherited her cooking skills. I learned how to cook at their knees during the summer months.

Happy Birthday to me!

Here’s to the next 32!!!!!

Let me help some of y’all out because I saw some of my old classmates on myspace today and babaaaaaaays, I was reminded of why I don’t fuck with myspace.  SMH

  1. If your screen name contains the word “classy” and your picture is showing 2 halves of your nipple and your ass is tooted up in the air….that’s an oxymoron.  Dumb broad……sheesh.
  2. Don’t put your high school skinny photo next to your most current one…KNOWING your ass looks like Grady from Sanford and Son and caption it “CAT DADDY!”  BLACK MAN PLEASE!  sheesh
  3. To my sisters…..if you know you weren’t friends with that hoof mouth bitch back in undergrad, DO NOT (I repeat) DO NOT “friend” her on Facebook and leave a message like “HEY GIRL!  It’s been so long.  How are you doing?” with smiley faces and shit.
  4. To everyone who graduated from undergrad in 1999 with me OR EARLIER….we’re too old for Sears Portraits in our interview suits with our arms folded and leaning against a big ass “08″ in the background.
  5. Ooooooohhhh and as a follow up to #3….If I didn’t talk to your hoof mouth ass back then, don’t send me a friend request, try to add me to your network, or follow me.  I’ve experienced some growth in life….but I ain’t changed that much chick.

As an adult……do you still expect to receive gifts during Christmas?  From your significant other, kids, family, anyone in particular?

On last night’s local news broadcast, a woman said that because of the current economic situation, she was allowing her children to choose one gift each.  I thought to myself “damn……talk about eliminating the holiday spirit!  There is none of the intent and spirit left in the holiday season when you take your kids to the store and say “pick one each.”  There is no surprise on Christmas morning.  There is no pretending of celebrating the season instead of worshipping the commercialness of the day.  I was very disappointed.

I don’t have a tree this year.

There are no decorations in my home this year.

There won’t be any gifts this year.

Every time someone speaks about this “holiday season” it is in reference to the economy…….focusing only on shopping, commercialism, and materialism.  IF I wasn’t depressed enough over the lack of Christmas shit in my life right now……..a Christmas focused solely on children choosing their own gifts and my mother telling me to pick out a gift and email it to her and she’ll buy it and have it sent via amazon.com……..damn sure does it for me.

Last Christmas I was in Las Vegas celebrating a wedding and enjoying a kick ass buffet at the Sahara hotel and casino.

This year I do believe I’m going to either be at the movie theater or in my house having a chick flick day with Mahogany, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, 16 Candles, Dreamgirls, and In The Heat of The Night.

I’ve lost my holiday sparkle….
