First and foremost, thank you for all of the well wishes.  They are greatly appreciated.

I remember watching a special on television that was honoring Luther Vandross.  In this particular segment he was telling a story about a conversation he had with Whitney Houston and they played the tape for her and she commented on the memory.

The two of them were in a hotel lobby talking and Luther pointed to a bell man and commented that he wanted to lose weight and be his size.  He envied the bell man.  Whitney replied “but he can’t sing like you.”  Luther continued to detail his rationale and told Whitney that he liked how well his suit hung on him.  Her reply was that “but he can’t sing like you.”

EVERYBODY knows that Luther’s strength was his talent.  But amazingly enough his focus was on his weight.  Did he really KNOW his strength?

Maybe that’s something that I’d like my loved ones to examine as we approach the new year…..KNOWING their strengths.  I feel like if you truly know what your strengths are then you will have a clearer vision of your purpose and paths in life.

Have a safe New Year’s Eve and be careful.
