This will be a short post.

I have had the same cell phone number for at least 9 years now.  I have a girlfriend who changes her number every time she breaks up with a guy (which is crazy as hell).  Not me.  The same way you could reach Original Diva back in 2000 is the way you can reach her now.

Last night I got a call from an old friend that moved to Texas last year.  We talked for an hour or so and reminisced.  We’ve known each other for 8 years and are truly friends.  It was good to rekindle that relationship.  I’m glad she called.

About a month ago an old high school friend/ex boyfriend called to see how I was enjoying Oregon.  We didn’t talk long because I really didn’t have the desire to speak to him right then.  I think I’ll call and wish him Happy Holidays though.  After all, we were friends for over 10 years.

When I first moved here the man I dated in Memphis called to ask me when he could come visit.  By that time I was committed to what I have with my other half and there’s no need for any other man to come visit me or even have the desire to.  I damn sure don’t have the desire to entertain anyone else other than MY MAN (damn I love that man).  So I simply let him know that I was in a monogamous relationship and he wasn’t welcome in my life anymore.

TODAY……..TODAY (as in less than an hour ago) my phone rang and it was a serious voice from my past.  A pro-bowler that I rarely correspond with anymore.  As a matter of fact, if he knows that I’ve moved then he had to have heard it through the grapevine.  That’s just how long it’s been.

There are times when a memory crosses my mind and I think about people that I’ve lost touch with.  Sometimes I call them and sometimes I don’t.  When I’m on the other end of that situation I often wonder what memory they’ve remembered that made them think of me.

Interesting…

You gettin all kinds of calls. I’m so glad my numbers have changed through the years :o

  2. You know that I know, ain’t no telling what will trigger a memory. It could be a conversation w/ someone else, a scent, a scene from a television program/movie, a conversation w/ another person.

I used to wonder what specific things triggered those memories/impulses to…until I was on the other end of the emotion.

It’s always nice to hear from people! Especially if they were cool people! ;)

I’ve had old friends to track me or my husband down through his mom’s number and address. It’s been the same # and residence since the 70’s! LOL

I received a call a few weeks ago from the past and my man was at the house so I was short and sweet. Actually, I was borderline rude. The call was from someone I dated for a year about 17 years ago. Anyway, two nights ago he calls back and tells me that he is sorry for whatever he did to me 17 years ago that makes me resent him so much. Huh?!?! There’s more to the story but I don’t want to blog in your comments.

Random things trigger a memory for me but I typically don’t follow through with a call or email. I’ve been “meaning” to call one of my best friends for over a month now but am a bit overloaded with people and the holidays so getting on the phone for what I know will be an hour plus long conversation has me dragging my feet.

Somestimes it’s fun to catch up. I wouldn’t wait too long tho’. I had been meaning to catch up with a friend who had given my sister her number. Days turned into weeks turned into months. Life was just so hectic.

Our birthdays are 2 days apart. I planned to do it then but two of my children also have birthdays about a week before. That time came and went as well.

I’m sad to say that about 5 months ago she was stabbed to death by her son’s father. She had been heavy on my mind in prior weeks I just could never set aside the time to call. I regret it every day.

Sorry if this got too long.

My phone was finally cut off and the only way and ex could reach me is by email or through my blog….But for a long time I was transported back in time whether I wanted to be or not….

  8. One day maybe I can say that my phone number is 10 years old. That is impressive.

One of the blessings of a major holiday season is that alot of healing can take place as well as rekindling.
