A while ago I searched at length for a birth control option for my future. I researched several methods and talked to some of my girlfriends about their ideas and success on their perspective methods.
Armed with the list of questions and concerns that my other half and I had discussed, I spoke in detail with my doctor and made the choice to start taking birth control pills. I spent three weeks on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo.

How Does ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN LO Work?
ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN LO is a low-dose birth control pill you take every day. When taken as directed, it delivers a low dose of hormones that works to prevent you from becoming pregnant. The hormones in ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN LO also help to regulate your menstrual cycle, so your periods may be easier and more predictable.
Most side effects of the Pill are not serious. The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, bleeding between menstrual periods, weight gain, breast tenderness, fluid retention and difficulty wearing contact lenses. These side effects, especially nausea and vomiting, may subside within the first 3 months of use.
Taking birth control pills may make your periods become more regular and your flow lighter. A lighter blood flow may may mean that you’ll lose less iron. Cramps and other menstrual symptoms are usually less severe when you’re on the Pill. Women who use the Pill are also less likely to develop ovarian cysts or experience an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy. Your chances of developing acute pelvic inflammatory disease, (a serious infection of the uterus, fallopian tubes and/or ovaries) are also minimized when you’re on the Pill.
