The LSAT is made up of five 35-minute multiple choice sections and one 30 minute essay. Two of the five multiple choice sections will be Arguments, one will be Games, and one will be Reading Comprehension. The remaining section will be an experimental section, which will not count toward your score.
Got it?
Good.
The Structure of the Games section
You will be given four logic games ina 35 minute section. Each game will have a setup and a set of conditions or clues that are attached to it. Then five to seven question will ask you about various possible arrangements of the elements in the game.
Got it?
Good.
Why does any of this matter you ask? Cause the GAMES section of this study guide is KICKING MY ASS! I feel like an utter and complete idiot! Each game is best worked by drawing some sort of chart/diagram/or picture. Those that require a traditional type of grid…..I suck at. Those that require outside the box thinking, like determining how many offices on a hallway are decorated using one of three styles of furniture….I’m excelling at. This is my trouble area. I have gotten all of the arguments and reading comprehension questions correct on 2 sample tests. I’m running abouta 50% rate on games though.
Well I’ve come up with a plan. There are approximately 20 – 30 questions in this one section. My ideal goal would be to only miss no more than 17 questions total. So if I focus on being perfect at the other two sections then I can afford to miss a bigger portion on the games.
That’s my plan.
Back to studying.

Have you considered taking one of the prep courses? I have heard they can give out good tips. Good luck with the studying.
Hey there! I took the LSAT and the games section is a beast! My suggestion? focus on the games section for a while. I took a prep course so miz jj is right. The offer great tips for the games section. They particularly suggested drawing out your diagrams first and spending time on understanding the diagram before answering the questions. That worked great for me. I actually did better in the games section than I did with the arguments. Now those are a beast too. They look easy but man are they hard! But if you start studying ahead of time and taking LOTS of practice tests I am sure you will do great. All the best!
I took a Kaplan course which didn’t help me with logic games but this book definitely helped me improve the number of games I got correct. The book even has a method for guessing in case you can’t get to the last game. It is the Powerscore LSAT logic games bible.
I am studying for the September LSAT as well. The Powerscore Logic Games Bible and Logical Reasoning Bible are the truth. Good Luck on the test.
I took a logic class in undergrad. I think it helped with the games. I took the test once, didn’t take the prep test and scored very high.
When I used to sub, I took games to the kids. If any of them decide to take the test, they will remember and thank me.
I just recieved my score on Sat from June 2007 test and at least I know where to start. I didn’t study going into exam bad choice. I have my work cut out and trying to decide on just studying powerscore book/or taking prep class as well.
