So I’ve been doing well on my little budget.  I’ve even paid 3 months ahead on my car (gotta love it).  When I go shopping now I stick to what’s on the list.  Nothing more than what’s on the list.  I’ve stopped eating out so much and I’m careful of not wasting gas.

I started a vacation account at the bank and I have set goals for a shopping trip in July,  going to see The Color Purple in September (already have the tickets) and a long weekend in Napa for my birthday (I think).  I’ve set my financial goals for my new furniture and appliances.

Friday was treat day but I decided to wait and treat myself to little things throughout the week instead of going shopping for everything on Friday.  Remember….I stick to the list.  The treat list consisted of a pair of jeans, a new tote, and blouse to wear with my navy and white pencil skirt.  So off to TJ Maxx I went today at lunch.  I saw some jeans and a blouse there that I really liked and wanted to try on.  I took a girlfriend with me.  I came out of the dressing room and she had four handbags in her arms.  I asked if any were for me and she gave me the “touch my purses and I’ll cut yo ass” look.  Then she helped me pick out some.  By the way, the jeans didn’t fit.  They were too low for my taste.

We left with 7 purses total. I had three and she had four.  Not on the list right?  Well that’s fixable.  I pulled out my weekend grocery list and made some alterations to it.  I really don’t need any chives or any ground turkey or any pasta or any heavy cream or any sourdough bread.  All that’s bad for my diet any damn way right?  I’m good with fish and veggies.  I don’t need any shrimp or crab this week.  Hey…I’m only one person.  There are only so many groceries I can eat at one time right?

Who needs groceries when you’re fly as hell!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. That is too funny. Sadly, I cannot relate. I’d much rather eat.

    Very cute bag.

  6. Look hookas. I didn’t say I was going hungry or didn’t have any food. I have tilapia, snapper, salmon, and ahi tuna in the freezer. I have corn, snap peas, broccoli, spinach, rice, and mac & cheese. I have cereal, muffins, bananas, peaches, greens, milk, butter, mushrooms, cheese, organic meatballs, and grapes. I’VE GOT FRUIT BARS (strawberry and lime).

I swear….I type and y’all just skim through the post missing the main point.

LOL. I read every SINGLE word young lady. I got the point. And since you have salmon in the freezer, how about passing along a good salmon recipe?

  8. Baked Salmon & Asparagus Salad (For one)

Remove the skin from the salmon
Brush it with olive oil and season with garlic, salt and pepper.
Lay salmon on foil surrounded by thin slices of lemons and asparagus.
Wrap it up like a little tent (everyone knows how to cook in foil by now right?)
Bake in the oven on 350 for 30-40 minutes.
Be careful when you take it out….cut a little slit in it first to release the steam.

While that’s cooking drizzle a little olive oil in a sauce pan and add 1/2 cup of white wine, 2 tbsps butter, garlic, chives, and mushrooms. Cook on low until it’s well blended and you can add some other spices for flavor.

Take the salmon and lay it on a bed of salad. Pour your sauce over it as you would salad dressing. Add some sliced almonds and slices of parmesan cheese. Plate the asparagus around the salad and enjoy.

That salmon dish sounds delish… gonna have to try it this weekend (if my budget says I can buy salmon).

I’m trying to get Coach to eat the things in the fridge BEFORE we go grocery shopping. You would think we had a family of 6 instead of just the 2 of us.

And lady… am I the only one who noticed on the side bar about you going on tour with this band!!! Do tell!

Let me know when you’re coming to Chicago for Color Purple. I’ve seen it once and I already have plans to see it 2 more times. It’s wonderful!
