Does anyone else have those moments where little things just snowball and almost break you?  That has been happening to me.  Last night I even dropped my dinner on the kitchen floor (and almost lost it).  Today I got a telephone call that I’m definitely going to discuss in another manner.  So as I was driving to the library during lunch I decided that today was the perfect day to be thankful.

For any of my new readers let me explain this concept. I first learned about it while watching Oprah’s 20th Anniversary collection. Sarah Ban Breathnach wrote a book titled Simple Abundance in which she details how much better our lives would be if we focused DAILY on the things that we are thankful for. These are not the big things like life, food, shelter, forgiveness for our sins….no. She is talking about things that just happen on that particular day and deserve celebration at that moment. Think about it….if you went through your entire day knowing that at the end of it, before you closed your eyes for sleep, you had to name at least 10 things that happened to you on THAT day that you were thankful for; then your outlook on each day would be different. You would constantly be searching for the good things. I made the decision to follow that practice on days when I was being simply beat down and abused by the universe. Today is one of those days!

  1. I received an email from a man that makes me smile so hard my cheeks hurt.  Just seeing his name in my inbox turns my cheeks an awful shade of red.
  2. My library experience today wasn’t nearly as bad as Sunday.  As a matter of fact I enjoyed it.
  3. Tomorrow night’s floral class will be empty with the exception of me.  That means I will be getting one on one attention.  How awesome will that be!
  4. I was contacted by a marketing firm about doing something special to promote that fabulous show Lincoln Heights.  Be on the lookout for more information.
  5. I’m having a pretty good hair day.  I’m anxious to see how it goes the remainder of the week so that I can tell you about my new products and give my personal review.
  6. My co-worker has stocked her candy jar with Dove chocolate hearts for Valentine’s Day and she always includes dark chocolate for me.  The hearts have the best messages on the inside of the wrapper.  I am collecting the best ones to use in a project.  So far I have:

  • Do something spontaneous
  • Hold hands firmly, hearts gently
  • Watch the sun come up
  • Listen with your heart
  • Make someone melt today (consider this one dedicated to the person who made me smile with the email.)
  • Remember your first crush
  • Linger over chocolate longer

What’s on your list today?
