You knew that I wouldn’t ignore this story when you saw it. I felt so much love, pride, and challenge from reading this that I actually cried. Love and pride at the wonderful gift Oprah has given these young girls and challenge to some way contribute to their quality of living as well.

Go read the article…look at those girls in their sharp green blazers and tell me your heart doesn’t swell.

My favorite quote “The 28-building campus boasts computer and science laboratories, a library and theater along with a wellness center.”

Fabulous!

  1. S. O'Brien says:

I was reading about it in her January 2007 issue and I was so happy as well, girl.
Girl, my fav quote was about a young girl who said such a profound thing. I started to sob and CURSED my selfishness and asked for forgiveness from Christ.
    From the article:

“One small, pretty girl, feeling the damage done to her when she was 5 years old and brutally raped, says, “I know I’m not perfect, but I have to try everything even if I fail.”

Girl, I had to plead for forgiveness – here I am griping about my situations when these girls did not grow up with even half of what I have (and it may not have been much, but Daddy and Mom ALWAYS made sure I was looked after, cared for and loved) but they have so much strength. So much determination.

    *sob*
